New Sequim Police K9 Team Passes Certification

The Sequim Police Department’s latest K9 team has completed more than 400 hours of state mandated training, passed certification testing, and is now patrolling the streets of Sequim.

Sequim Police Detective Paul Dailidenas and K9 “Mamba” began their training in early January along with K9 teams from the Port Angeles Police Department, Olympia Police Department, and Grays Harbor County Sheriff’s Office.

Mamba is trained to conduct human tracking and apprehension, building searches, evidence searches, and handler protection.

Detective Dailidenas and Mamba also passed accreditation from the Washington State Police Canine Association, which is additional testing.

Mamba, now a 2 year old German Shepherd, was purchased and trained through a generous grant by the Mary P. Dolciani Halloran Foundation.

The Sequim Police Department K9 program began in 2000. Mamba was preceded by K9s Huey, Titus, and Chase.

Donations to the Sequim Police Department K9 program can be made in person or by mail at the Sequim Police Department, 152 W. Cedar St. Sequim WA 98382. 100% of proceeds, made out to the “Sequim Police K9 Program,” go directly towards the care and training of our canine team.
