Sequim Service Fest to Conclude Friday, June 15

Sequim Service Fest will conclude on Friday, June 15 with a closing ceremony at 5:30 p.m., followed by a concert with Black Diamond Junction from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the James Center for the Performing Arts at Carrie Blake Park. Both events are free and everyone is welcome. Sequim residents are encouraged to wear the color of their neighborhood. Visit http://www.sequimwa.gov/DocumentCenter/View/9439 for a neighborhood map and to find your neighborhood color. Wind Rose Cellars will host a wine garden at the concert.

Sequim Service Fest, a partnership between The City of Sequim, Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County, and First Federal, is the first-of-its-kind event. Habitat for Humanity Care-A-Vanners, from throughout the United States, have been in Sequim since June 4 working on private and public projects as a part of Habitat for Humanity’s Neighborhood Revitalization program.

Projects completed by the Care-A-Vanners, City staff, and community volunteers as a part of Sequim Service Fest include:
• trash removal, prepping and house painting, and building a fence at a home on West    Hammond Street
• prepping and painting a home on West Spruce street
• removal of a structure, trash clean-up, and building a fence on West Spruce Street
• reroofing the picnic gazebo and Dryke Memorial, construction of a mower shed, and leveling the bricks at the Terrace Gardens at Carrie Blake Community Park
• painting the dugout and benches and reroofing the dugouts at Dr. Standard Park
• construction of a picnic shelter at Margaret Kirner Park
• construction of the kiosks to be placed in the seven city neighborhoods

The arbor and benches at 1st Security Bank on the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street and the City building on Sequim Avenue and Spruce Street were painted as a part of Sequim Day of Color. More than 50 residents picked up quarts of paint in the City’s logo colors to decorate their homes.
