  1. Music in the Park - Sequim City Band

    August 14, 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM @ Carrie Blake Park

Another Music in the Park event - but this one's even more special! It features our very own Sequim City Band, and will be introduced by Sequim's Mayor, Dennis Smith. Dennis will also honor several City Band members who have been playing for more than 20 years, donating time, effort, and musical prowess to this jewel of Sequim's community. For those less familiar with the Band, its repertoire includes marches (its library includes every Sousa march ever written), Broadway and movie music, big band swing and jazz arrangements, classic band literature, and patriotic tunes – a bit of something for everyone. Furthermore, it is thanks to the Sequim City Band that we even have the band shell, and can host Music in the Park events in that venue. So come on out to support a key element of the community, bring chairs and snacks, and enjoy the music!

Bring your chair or blanket, your snacks, and settle in for another night of great music! Seattle Gypsy jazz band Ranger and the “Re-Arrangers” evoke the spirit of a Paris cafe and the raucous energy of a Gypsy campsite with their version of Gypsy jazz. “At the heart of their sound is Ranger Sciacca's sweet violin playing… his sense of melody and daring improvisations” (World Rhythm). The band’s repertoire includes swing standards, traditional Gypsy melodies, the music of Django Reinhardt, and Ranger's unique originals.

Come to the final Music in the Park Concert on Tuesday, August 28 at the James Center for the Performing Arts from 6-8 pm! It'll be Farmstrong, lighting up the stage with exquisite harmony signing and seasoned instrumentation. The heart of the band draws on inspiration from the last century of country, blues and bluegrass music from the 1920’s through the 50’s, as well as folk, rock, gospel and soul music of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and beyond. FarmStrong’s talented and experienced musicians take their audience outside the bluegrass tradition. Their unmistakable sound moves the soul, while remaining firmly rooted in music from the mountains.
