The Sequim Public Works department has completed the installation of water stations in city parks. There are nine total water stations, four at Carrie Blake Park with stations near the Dog Park, Pickleball Courts/Skate Park, Water Reuse Interpretive Center, and at the southwestern corner of the Albert Haller Playfields. There is one station each at Seal Street, Pioneer, Gerhardt, Margaret Kirner, and James Standard Parks. The stations include a water bottle refilling station and drinking fountains. Six with pet watering bowls are located at Carrie Blake Park near the Dog Park, Water Reuse Interpretive Center, at the southwestern Corner of the Albert Haller Playfields and at Pioneer, Seal Street, and Gerhardt Parks.
The water stations were the communities first choice to be included in the 2020 budget through the People Project! a participatory budgeting program. The stations encourage sustainability by promoting water bottle re-use and keep our community healthy by providing hydration in recreation areas. The total cost of the stations was $62,800.
