National Police Week
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation which designated May 15 as Peace Officers’ Memorial Day and the week in which that date falls as National Police Week.
There have been 32 Line of Duty Deaths in the United States as of May 1st this year. The Clallam County Sheriff’s office will host a Bell Ringing Ceremony in Liberty Park (next to the Clallam County Courthouse in Port Angeles) on Friday, May 19th at 1:30 p.m. in honor of those who have lost their lives in the line of duty.
