Construction is slated to begin October 30th on the North Sequim Avenue Sidewalk and Bike Lanes project. The work will take place Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and is weather dependent. The project is expected to be completed by June 2024.
Work will be performed at the following locations:
• North Sequim Avenue
• Sequim Dungeness Way
• Port Williams Road
• Old Olympic Highway
Residents can expect delays, localized closures, and detours during work hours. Resident access will be provided; however, residents are asked to heed flaggers, cones, and construction signage, and to be cognizant of large construction equipment and trucks and their backup alarms.
This project follows the Complete Streets model and will provide paved northbound and southbound lanes for vehicles and bike lanes for cyclists, as well as a two-way left hand turn lane down North Sequim Avenue. Pedestrians will notice improvements with the addition of concrete sidewalks on the west side of the street and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant curb ramps at intersections. Other pedestrian improvements will include street lighting, landscaping, and crossing enhancements. The project is being funded by a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant, Transportation Improvement Board (TIB) grant, City Real Estate Excise Tax (REET), and City Transportation Benefit District funds. The work will be performed by Interwest Construction and various subcontractors.
