In an on-going effort to improve communication with Sequim citizens, the City of Sequim is now incorporating social media into its communications plan.
There are now three official City of Sequim pages on Facebook:
City of Sequim Government – The community can now learn about City news, meetings, and announcements through this page.
Sequim Tourism Government – Visitors, potential visitors, and local residents can find out the latest updates on Sequim and vicinity tourism events and activities through this page.
Sequim Centennial Government – This page will focus on events, news, and activities centered on the year-long Sequim Centennial Celebration.
“Social media has been continually growing in significance as a means to communicate with a wide audience,” said City of Sequim Communications and Marketing Director Barbara Hanna. “We have been talking about utilizing this tool for a while, but we needed to have our policies in order and systems in place for records retention before we moved forward.”
The Facebook pages are intended to be an additional resource for communication and to enhance the tools already in place. The City’s two websites www.sequimwa.gov and www.visitsunnysequim.com will continue to play a significant role in providing information to residents and visitors, as will the monthly Sequim News newsletter, traditional media, and public meetings.
