[ARCHIVED] City of Sequim Mayor Begins “Coffee with the Mayor” Program

SEQUIM – City of Sequim Mayor, Ken Hays will begin a new “Coffee with the Mayor” program in September. Sequim residents can meet informally with the mayor on Thursdays, September 5 and 19 at 7:30 a.m. at Adagio Bean and Leaf, located at 981 E. Washington Street.

“I read once that a disconnect begins to occur when a community grows over a population of 5000” said Mayor Hays; “this is the tipping point where individuals no longer feel like they know someone who knows someone at city hall. I want to give our community the opportunity to stay connected”.

“At a state conference of cities recently I heard Mount Vernon Mayor Jill Boudreau talk about her success with a similar program. I know many of our residents enjoy a good cup of coffee in the morning, including myself, so it seems like a natural venue and opportunity for myself and the city to reach out to folks in our community,” said Hays.

The mayor will be at a different published location each month, along with a notepad to take notes, to listen to anyone who wants to chat, ask questions, express a concern, or make a comment about the city or the community.

Please contact Ken Hays at (360) 460-6231 or khays@sequimwa.gov with questions.
