Members of the Sequim High School freshman class are scheduled to tour the City of Sequim Water Reclamation Facility on Friday, October 21 and Tuesday, October 25, 2011.
The tours will take place at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1:00 p.m. on the 21st and 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on the 25th.
The tours are part of an educational program between the City of Sequim and the Sequim School District. On October 18 and 19, Water Reclamation Facility Lead Al Chrisman is teaching classes at the high school on “How Nature Cleans Water, and How We Copy That Process” to the freshman class. The class explains how different scientific techniques are used in separating pollutants from the water.
“This is a process that happens naturally, said Chrisman “but what we do at the Water Reclamation Facility is speed up that process.”
The City of Sequim has been educating students from kindergarten to high school for over 20 years, but this is the second year in a row that representatives from the City Water Reclamation Facility are addressing the entire freshman class.
