[ARCHIVED] Sequim Police Department to Host Public Safety Fair

The Sequim Police Department and Fire District #3 are partnering to host the Sequim Public Safety Fair on Saturday, October 19, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Guy Cole Convention Center at Carrie Blake Park, 202 N. Blake Avenue.

The annual event brings together private and public agencies to provide helpful information in the event of personal and family life changes or natural or man-made wide-spread disaster.

Attendees can collect information about assistance programs ranging from Medicare and other senior issues to Clallam County Juvenile Services and understanding the Affordable Care Act.

Emergency and support vehicles from Clallam County Fire District #3, Sequim Police Department, and the Clallam County Sheriff’s office, will be on display outside the convention center. Ret. Det. Myrle Carner of Washington’s Most Wanted (WAMW) and Crimestoppers of Puget Sound will have the WAMW 335 hp Chevy Camaro at the event.

Certified Child Passenger Safety Seat technicians will host a child seat inspection station in the parking lot just south of the Guy Cole Center. Parents and grandparents may have safety seats inspected for proper fit and installation.

Members of Airlift Northwest will land a medical transport helicopter outside of the convention center at approximately 11:00 a.m. The crew will be available to answer questions and talk about their service and the equipment before returning to their base at approximately 3:00 p.m.

In addition, the Sequim Police Department will have approximately fifty bicycle and skateboard helmets available free to children 18 years of age or younger, as well as developmentally disabled adults, who live within the Sequim School District boundaries. The helmet recipient must be at the event so that their helmet can be inspected for proper fit by the police volunteers and staff.

For more information contact the Sequim Police Department at 360-683-7227.
