County-wide local law enforcement agencies, including the Sequim Police Department, will be participating in the Nationwide Prescription Take-Back Day sponsored by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
Individuals can drop off expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the Sequim Police Department, 609 W. Washington Street, Suite 16.
The service is free and anonymous with no questions asked. The collection service will include both controlled and non-controlled prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications.
Illicit drugs such as marijuana or methamphetamine as well as intravenous solutions, injectibles, syringes, and medical waste will not be accepted.
Prescription drug abuse is the fastest-growing drug problem in America. Individuals are reminded that you should never flush prescription drugs down the toilet or sink drain unless the label or accompanying patient information specifically instructs you to do so.
