[ARCHIVED] City of Sequim Installs Public Notice Signs

The City of Sequim is installing twelve “Public Notice” signs throughout the city to assist in informing citizens of important projects and pending legislation. The signs were initially created to bring attention to the Critical Areas Ordinance that is currently being reviewed by the City Council and city staff. While the foundation of the signs is permanent, the project specific text can be removed and changed for future projects.

“The signs are part of an overall communications plan to grab the attention of our citizens and let them know of opportunities to comment or participate,” said Community Development Director Chris Hugo.

Each sign is outfitted with a box containing informational flyers on the Critical Areas Ordinance that can be taken for more information. The signs also have a QR code for smart phone users. Pointing the smart phone at the QR code will take the user directly to the Critical Areas Ordinance page on the City of Sequim website for information. All twelve signs with flyers are expected to be installed by the end of the day Friday, December 9, 2011.

A public hearing on the Critical Areas Ordinance will be held at the Monday, December 12, 2011 City Council Meeting. Citizens have until Saturday, December 31, 2011 to provide written comment on the proposed ordinance, and the public hearing process will be continued to the Council’s January 23rd meeting.
