[ARCHIVED] Sequim Street Lights Out for Bulb Replacement

The City of Sequim Public Works crew will continue replacing traditional, inefficient light bulbs in City street lamps with LED (light-emitting diode) units. The work will be conducted between 5:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday now through the end of the year. Residents may observe a one or two block bank of lights that are out at one time during this period for replacement.

The City began the replacement program in 2014 as a cost savings program. The PUD (Public Utility District) estimates that the LED units installed this year will save the City approximately $6000 in electrical costs per year. The City should also see savings in labor cost and materials over time, as LED units need to be replace less frequently that traditional bulbs.

Please contact City of Sequim Streets Manager Mike Brandt at 681-3437 or mbrandt@sequimwa.gov with questions.
