SEQUIM--The Sequim City Council approved the Sequim 2015-2035 Comprehensive Plan update at the October 26, 2015 meeting. The Plan provides the overall strategy for City growth and development for the next twenty years, including how land can be developed and used, how people will move throughout the City, what parks, recreation, and open spaces will be available, and how economic needs are met in centers of shopping and employment. The Plan establishes a framework for building strong neighborhoods and expanding economic opportunities while maintaining the City’s role as the “small-town, friendly” center of a rural valley.
The Plan is a result of input received through the Sequim 120 process. City staff received input from over 700 participants in open houses, workshops, living room discussions, community club meetings and planning exercises that provided the values and directions to develop the Plan’s vision, goals and policies.
With the approval of the Plan by the City Council, City staff will begin to review City zoning and other development codes to ensure that they align with the directions of the new Plan.
