SEQUIM—The Sequim City Council elected Dennis Smith as Mayor and Ted Miller as Deputy Mayor at a Special City Council Meeting on Monday, January 4, 2016. The City Mayor presides at City Council meetings and represents the City at ceremonial and intergovernmental meetings. The Deputy Mayor presides in the Mayor’s absence.
Smith was appointed to the City Council on October 8, 2012. He was elected to the Council in 2013 and elected Deputy Mayor by his fellow council members in 2014. He is the council liaison to the City Planning Commission and serves on the Peninsula Responders Emergency Program committee and the Clallam Transit Board of Directors.
Miller was elected to the City Council in 2009 and served as Mayor Pro Tem (now titled Deputy Mayor) in 2012 through 2013. He serves on the City Finance Committee, Clallam County Law & Justice Council and serves as the Cities of Sequim, Forks and Port Angeles representative to the Clallam County Disability Board. He previously served as chair of the Sequim Planning Commission and on the Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee.
The Sequim City Council meets on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 6:00 p.m. at the Sequim Civic Center located at 152 West Cedar Street. City Council agendas and minutes are posted on the City’s website www.sequimwa.gov.
