[ARCHIVED] City of Sequim Prepares for the Possibility of Flooding

As the snowfall tapers off over the City of Sequim, the National Weather Service predicts that by the end of the week temperatures will begin to rise and the snow will begin to melt. City crews are preparing for the slight chance that the melt-off may result in flooding in some areas.

“I’ve asked the city crew to start filling the 1000 sandbags we have on hand, and I just ordered 1000 more,” said City of Sequim Streets Manager Mike Brandt.

If someone sees or experiences a flooding emergency in the City of Sequim, they should call the city’s Public Works Department (360) 683-4908 during regular business hours: Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., or call (360) 912-7759 outside regular business hours. City crews will do their best to bring sandbags to the flooded area. If crews are unable to deliver the sandbags, and it is an emergency situation, City of Sequim residents may pick up sandbags at the City Shop located at 169 W Hemlock St.
