SEQUIM—Sequim City Manager Charlie Bush has announced the appointment of Deputy Police Chief Sheri Crain to the position of Police Chief effective December 16, 2016. Crain succeeds retiring Police Chief Bill Dickinson.
“We are fortunate to be able to promote someone with Sheri’s experience, skill level, connection and commitment to our community into this role,” said City Manager Charlie Bush.
Crain was hired by the Sequim Police Department on February 26, 1991 and was the first female Police Officer in Sequim. She is a graduate of the University of Washington and holds a Bachelor of Arts in Society and Justice. In 1999, she was promoted to Sergeant and in 2008 to Police Lieutenant. Crain served as Interim Police Chief from July to September in 2010. In 2013 she completed the 10-week Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Academy, and was appointed Deputy Chief that same year.
“I’m looking forward to serving the community in this capacity. I’ve been fortunate to serve my entire career here. It’s a wonderful community and we have an excellent police force.”
