[ARCHIVED] Service Fest Day of Color – Paint Available at the Guy Cole Center

“Every community needs some spicy people” and “community building starts with the small things”, encouraged Peter Kagayama, author of For the Love of Cities: The Love Affair Between People and Their Places and the follow up, Love Where You Live: Creating Emotionally Engaging Places, at the kick-off of Sequim Service Fest on June 4.

Tuesday, June 5 was designated Sequim Day of Color. More than 50 residents picked up paint to help spread color and vibrancy through the community in City of Sequim logo colors. As a part of Sequim Day of Color, the arbor and benches at First Security Bank, on the corner of Sequim Avenue and Washington Street and the dugouts at Dr. Standard Park were also painted. The City Administration Building was painted by the Sequim Community Church volunteers as part of the Beautiful Day project in April and May to kick-off the Day of Color concept in Sequim.

Paint will continue to be available for pick-up at the Guy Cole Convention Center at Carrie Blake Community Park on weekday mornings during the event, while supplies last.

Residents are encouraged to be creative and decorate items on their property to spread color through the community. Please take a photo and share it on social media with the following hashtag: #sequimservicefest.
