The City of Sequim Public Works crew worked through the night on Friday and continues to work clearing the roads in the City. The crews are working around the clock with five plows, two with sanding capacity. The City urges residents to please stay off the roads today Saturday, and tomorrow, Sunday to allow the crews to clear and treat the streets. Traffic and disabled vehicles interfere with their ability to complete the work.
The crew is currently focusing on the emergency route of main arterials today and anticipates they will begin clearing side streets on Sunday. Plowing will continue through Monday and as long as it continues to snow. Residents are encouraged to minimize driving.
Residents are asked to call 911 if they have an emergency or see someone in need. Police and Fire are prepared to respond, despite road conditions.
The Sequim Civic Center is closed for business on Monday, February 11 and the Sequim City Council meeting for that evening is canceled.
City staff will continue to monitor conditions and have a contingency plan in place should weather conditions worsen.
