[ARCHIVED] City of Sequim Snow Removal Update

TyCleaningSidewalk

The City of Sequim Public Works crew has cleared most of the city streets to compact snow and ice conditions and the remaining streets should be cleared today.  The crews are focused on putting down sand and salt to help with the snow and ice on the roads.  Public works crews will continue to work in 12 hour shifts 24 hours a day while we experience snow conditions.  Drivers are encouraged to stay off the roads if possible.

The City of Sequim asks residents to please help by clearing the sidewalk in front of homes and business and to assist neighbors who are unable to do so.  Citizens are cautioned to not overdue and to shovel safely.  This video from the Washington Post offers some safety tips https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=whUPtMqprug.

Residents are asked to call 911 if they have an emergency or see someone in need.  Police and Fire are prepared to respond, despite road conditions.

The Sequim Civic Center is closed for business on Monday, February 11 and the Sequim City Council Meeting for that evening is cancelled.

City staff will continue to monitor conditions and have contingency plan in place should weather conditions worsen.
