[ARCHIVED] Sequim Police Department Warns of a New Phone Scam

The Sequim Police Department is warning of a new scam.  A local citizen has reported that someone called and identified themselves as being from the Sequim Police Department.  The phone number on caller ID showed the Police Department phone number.  The caller asked the receiver to provide them with sensitive identity and financial information.

The Sequim Police Department will not ask for sensitive identity information like a social security number or bank account information over the phone.  If you receive this type of call, hang up and call the Sequim Police Department at (360) 683-7227 to see if they are trying to reach you, and if they are not, to report the scam.  Phone and internet scams can be reported directly to the following government agencies:
