Strategic, Operational, and Financial Plans
Maintain strategic, operational, and financial plans to support the anticipated increase in businesses providing employment and residential growth while maintaining Sequim’s small town atmosphere.
Job growth will result in employees that patronize local businesses and will result in residential growth as people relocate to be closer to jobs. Employment growth and healthy businesses provide multiple benefits that improve livability and quality of life. Local employers support community activities and sales tax from businesses supports parks and other programs that contribute to quality of life. Healthy downtown businesses provide interesting shops and restaurants that create a vibrant and sustainable downtown core and preserve the City’s small town charm.
Over the next twenty years, the City population is expected to grow moderately. This growth will help sustain local businesses and reduce the per capita cost of government services. Additional residential growth should be well planned and its character should reflect the goals of the adopted comprehensive plan. The City of Sequim’s small town atmosphere will remain as a cornerstone of the community with appropriate parks and leisure amenities, a healthy downtown core, appealing streetscapes, and well planned out residential and/or mixed use development which offers a wide range of housing choices that appeal to retired empty nesters and families.
