The City of Sequim Engineering staff consists of one Certified Professional Engineer licensed in the State of Washington, a project engineer - also licensed, an associate engineer and development review engineer (as of 2019), and a GIS specialist. Engineering staff members strive to provide the utmost service for the citizens of Sequim. Their responsibilities include:
- Initiating, managing, and inspecting municipal projects
- Reviewing and approving construction permits and development plans, and construction inspections
- Developing design and construction standards
- Managing traffic and pedestrian systems throughout the city
- Lighting within the right-of-way throughout the city
- Appraisal of infrastructure safety elements during emergency situations
- GIS mapping and record keeping
- Services contracted based on competitive bidding by qualifying contractors
- Neighborhood infrastructure management based on interactive communications with residents
- Participating in annual Capital Improvement Planning (CIP) and funding prioritization
