School Resource Officer

The Sequim Police Department, City of Sequim, and the Sequim School District have partnered to bring a School Resource Officer (SRO) to our schools.

The SRO is a school-based law enforcement officer who will work with parents, school administrators, teachers, and school security to protect students, school faculty and staff, and the schools they attend.  This will be done by providing resources to school staff, building positive relationships with students, and developing strategies to resolve problems that the students and staff are affected by to reach our common goal of safe schools and safe kids.

COPS HIRING PROGRAM

The Sequim Police Department was selected for a COPS Hiring Program (CHP) grant to address a particular Department of Justice priority crime problem, based specifically on their CHP grant application's community policing plan to improve public safety response to the critical issues of school based policing through School Resource Officers, Gun Violence, or Homicide Reduction.

COPS motto:  Advancing Public Safety Through Community Policing.
